How Does laser Therapy Function?

Each light emits a wavelength between 650 nm to 808nm, which allows the light to penetrate the skin and reach deeper tissue layers. When applied, the light targets damaged tissues and stimulates cellular activity. The cells in the body , including stem cells, contain active mitochondria, which are the energy-producing units of the cell responsible for generating ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
Within the mitochondria, there is an enzyme known as cytochrome c oxidase, a light-absorbing molecule (chromophore). When cytochrome c oxidase absorbs light, it releases nitric oxide, a chemical that promotes vasodilation (the widening of blood vessels). This increased blood flow to affected areas aids the body in its healing process and enhances the absorption and circulation of nutrients, supplements, and medications throughout the system.
When illuminated with red light, cells also release ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species).
